About CovidSurg

There is an urgent need to understand the outcomes of COVID-19 infected patients who undergo surgery.

Capturing real-world data and sharing international experience will inform the management of this complex group of patients who undergo surgery throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, improving their clinical care.

CovidSurg has been designed by an international collaborating group of surgeons and anaesthetists, with representation from Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Korea, Singapore, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Join CovidSurg

CovidSurg will be a platform of studies aiming to explore the impact of COVID-19 in surgical patients and services. Please find bellow a brief summary of each one of the studies. You and your team are able to choose to get involves in as many as you wish.

  • CovidSurg: an international cohort study, aiming to assess the outcomes of surgery in patients diagnosed in COVID-19

  • CovidSurg-Cancer: an international cohort study assessing the safety of surgery for all types of cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of the pandemic in cancer delay and treatment pathways.

  • CovidSurg Resource Survey: assessing the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on surgical services, particularly elective surgery cancellation and emergency surgery management.

  • CovidSurg Workforce Survey: to determine the impact of COVID-19 on surgical workforce sickness, protection and task management.

Can I participate in CovidSurg Cohort and CovidSurg Cancer

Some patients might fulfil inclusion criteria for both studies, some might not.

If you choose to participate in CovidSurg Cancer study only, you will recruit all SURGICAL CANCER patients (COVID+ and COVID-).

If you choose to participate in CovidSurg Cohort study only, you will include patients undergoing ANY type of surgery who are COVID+.

If you choose to participate in both studies, you will include COVID+ patients undergoing ANY type of surgery AND also SURGICAL CANCER PATIENTS without COVID infection.
