FALCON trial launches in Nigeria

Nigeria has become the latest NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Global Surgery hub country to launch the FALCON trial testing interventions to reduce surgical site infections in low and middle come countries.

The first hospital to open to recruitment was Lagos University Teaching Hospital, followed by Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex in Ile-Ife in the south west of the country. In the first week of recruitment the hospital had recruited an amazing 25 patients!

Nigeria Hub lead Professor Adesoji Ademuyiwa along with Spoke lead Dr Adewale Adisa Oluseye are planning a central site initiation to enable a total of 12 hospitals across Nigeria to take part in the FALCON trial.
