NIHR Global Surgery Unit researchers have published global guidelines for the prevention of surgical site infection in the British Journal of Surgery (BJS).
Expert surgeons from 14 countries across Africa, Europe, Latin America, and South Asia worked together to identify and collate nine evidence-based interventions that can be feasibly implemented worldwide at low cost. The guidelines consist of practical steps to support surgeons worldwide, but especially in low- resource settings, to put into practice key interventions that are proven to reduce the risk of surgical site infection and the spread of antimicrobial resistance.
The poster highlighting these interventions is available for download in various languages.
