Special BJS Edition on Global Surgery 

The prestigious surgical journal BJS has just published it’s special edition for 2019 focussing on Global Surgery and we’re delighted to announce publication of 2 manuscripts related to GlobalSurg in this edition.

Use of the WHO Surgical Safety List in GlobalSurg 1 and GlobalSurg 2

For the first time we have combined data from both GlobalSurg 1 and GlobalSurg 2 to evaluate the impact of use of the WHO surgical check list in perioperative mortality in patients undergoing emergency surgery.

Research Prioritisation Exercise
 
The NIHR Unit on Global Surgery is working closely with GlobalSurg members to ensure the research agenda is set according to the priorities of our collaborators, particularly in Low & Middle Income Countries.
The Unit has been undertaking annual research prioritisation exercises, a description of which is published in the BJS special edition
