We’re delighted to announce that the first site for our international randomised controlled trial, FALCON, is now fully activated and open to patient recruitment.

This is an amazing landmark achievement both for the FALCON trial and for global surgery, and represents the first step towards our recruitment target of 5480 patients.

Lead by Professor Antonio Ramos-De Le Medina at the Sociedad Espanola de Beneficencia Hospital in Veracruz, the team in Mexico will now begin recruiting surgical patients into the FALCON trial which is testing methods of reducing surgical site infections in low and middle income countries.

Over the coming weeks and months multiple sites in low and middle income countries will open to patient recruitment as the recruitment phase of FALCON gets underway.
